Minimum requirements in order to apply for the WEC Grant:

  • Registered Entity with State of Utah*
  • Active Business License*
  • Business must be generating Sales Revenue
  • BUSINESS must be owned and/operated by one or more women
  • Non-Profit – must be directed by a woman

*Semi-finalists will be required to provide proof

Applications will be accepted January 1-30, 2017
Semi-finalists will be notified by email and announced via Social Media on Friday, February 17, 2017.


WOMEN’S ENTREPRENEURIAL CONFERENCE GRANT
OFFICIAL RULES & CONSUMER DISCLOSURE:

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference (WEC) Grant Competition.  The WEC Grant Application period commences on  January 1, 2017, and ends on January 30, 2017. Six (6) prizes will be awarded consisting of $ 500.00 (2), $ 1,000.00 (2), $ 2,000.00 (1) and $ 5,000.00 (1) at the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference on April 19, 2017. Each finalist is eligible to win one of the main prizes as well as the People’s Choice Award.  The winners shall be responsible for all taxes incurred and for any withholding requirements for state and federal income taxes. The Odds of winning are –
one (1) divided by total number of valid applications received. Grant Administrator: Utah MicroEnterprise Loan Fund 154 E Ford Ave Ste A, Salt Lake City, UT 84115.

  1. Eligibility. The WEC Grant is open only to legal residents of Utah where permitted by law. Must be 18 or older to enter. No entries will be accepted from inmates of a correctional facility. No employees of the judges or organizers of the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference or their immediate family members (defined as spouse or children) are eligible to participate. Participation constitutes Entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the WEC Grant Competition. Winning a grant is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
  2.     Administrator. The sole and exclusive Administrator of the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference Grants is the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund, 154 E Ford Ave Ste A, Salt Lake City, UT 84115 (“Sponsor”).
  3.   Timing. The WEC Grant Application period commences on January 1, 2017, at 12:00 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) and ends on January 30, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MST (the “Promotion Period”). Administrator is the official timekeeper for the WEC Grants.
  4.     How to Enter.  Below are the methods to enter:
    Enter via the published web site(s) with an entry indicating the Entrant wishes to enter.Mail in the official application indicating the Entrant wishes to enter to Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund, 154 E Ford Ave Ste A, Salt Lake City, UT 84115.  Mail must be postmarked no later than ending date referenced in paragraph 3 above.1.    Additional Conditions. Any incomplete or illegible entries will not be processed. The use of robotic, automatic, macro, programmed, photocopied entries, or multiple entries sent in bulk mail, or like methods (including without limitation the use of any promotion/sweepstakes subscription, notification entry or like sites or services that offers sweepstakes entry services “on behalf of” Entrant) is strictly prohibited. Any attempt by a participant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods may void that participant’s entries and that participant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. Administrator is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, postage due, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entry applications, which will be disqualified and destroyed. In the event of a dispute as to any entry application, the authorized account holder of the email address, if applicable, used to register will be deemed to be the Entrant.2.    Semi-Finalists Selection. On or about February 8, 2017, twelve (12) Semi-Finalists will be selected to participate in the Semi-Final Pitch Competition on March 17th, 2017. Semi-finalists will be selected based on the total points awarded by the judges based on a combination of criteria including but not limited to:a.    the viability or potential of the business described by the applicant
    b.    the potential impact of receiving a grant on the company’s growth and/or impact on the community

    Semi-Finalists will pitch their business in a 3 minute pitch that will be scored by the
    judges.  Finalists will be selected based on the total points awarded by the judges based
    on a combination of criteria including but not limited to:
    a.    viability or potential of the business described by the applicant
    b.   potential impact of receiving a grant on the company’s growth and/or impact
    on the community
    c.   passion of the Finalist for their business and their growth opportunity
    d.   quality of presentation (prepared and well thought out presentation)

    The judges will score the presentations and provide the Administrator with their scores.
    The Top Five (5) Finalists will be announced on April 5, 2017.  The Top Five (5)
    Finalists will compete for the Grant prizes at the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference on
    Wednesday, April 19, 2017.  The Winners of the (5) Grant-prizes will be determined by
    the WEC Conference Judges.   Finalists will be selected based on the total points awarded
    by the judges based on a combination of criteria including but not limited to:
    a.    viability or potential of the business described by the applicant
    b.   potential impact of receiving a grant on the company’s growth and/or impact on the community
    c.   passion of the Finalist for their business and their growth opportunity
    d.   quality of presentation (prepared and well thought out presentation)

    The People’s Choice Award will be determined by the audience at the Women’s Entrepreneurial
    Conference.  Each attendee will be given the ability to cast (1) vote for the People’s Choice Award.

    3.    Winner Notification. The Winners of the WEC Grant Competition will be notified at the conclusion of the Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference after presentations have concluded and final scoring from the judges and conference attendees has been tallied.

    4.    Verification of Winners. Entrant(s) selected as Semi-Finalists will be contacted by the Administrator to verify eligibility.  If a Semi-Finalist cannot be contacted, fails to meet the eligibility requirements, or if the notification is returned as undeliverable, the Semi-Finalist forfeits their opportunity to participate in the Semi-Final Pitch Competition on March 17, 2017 and a new candidate will be chosen.

    5.    Odds of Winning. Odds of winning = One (1) divided by total number of valid applications entered for the Competition.

    6.    Grant-Prizes. Six (6) Grant-Prizes will be awarded – (5) main prizes awarded by the judges and (1) by the Conference audience. Once the winners are announced, arrangements will be made to award the grants.  The Final Pitch Competition will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Holladay City Hall.  The applicants must be present at the Semi-Final Pitch Competition and Final Pitch Competition to compete.  If travel is necessary for the applicant to participate, they will not be given a stipend to cover the cost to attend the competitions.  If a semi-finalist is not able to travel on the date required by the Sponsor, their spot in the competition will be forfeited. The Semi-Finalists agree to participate in the final pitch competition as a condition to compete for the Grant-Prizes.  Winner is responsible for all taxes resulting from winning a Grant-Prize including all federal, state and local, taxes, fees, assessments and like charges. Prize is nontransferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Administrator’s sole discretion. The Administrator reserves the right to substitute any listed prize for one of equal or greater value for any reason.

    7.    Entry Conditions and Release. By entering the WEC Grant Competition, each participant agrees to: (a) comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Administrator which are binding and final in all matters; (b) release and hold harmless the Administrator, Sponsors and Judges, and each of their respective parents, subsidiary, and affiliated companies, the prize suppliers and any other organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the WEC Conference, and all of their respective past and present officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, including but not limited to invasion of privacy (under appropriation, intrusion, public disclosure of private facts, false light in the public eye or other legal theory), defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights, property damage, or death or personal injury arising out of or relating to a participant’s entry, creation of an entry or submission of an entry, participation in the WEC Grant Competition, acceptance or use or misuse of prize (including any activity related thereto) and/or the broadcast, exploitation or use of entry; and (c) indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Parties against any and all claims, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or relating to an Entrant’s participation in the WEC Grant Competition and/or Entrant’s acceptance, use or misuse of a prize.

    8.    Publicity. Except where prohibited, participation in a WEC Grant Event constitutes winner’s consent to the Administrator and its agents use of winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.

    9.    General Conditions. Administrator reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the WEC Grant Competition, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of a WEC Grant Event as determined by the Administrator in its sole discretion. The Administrator’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

    10.    Limitations of Liability. If for any reason an entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, Entrant’s sole remedy is another similar entry in the WEC Grant Competition, provided that if it is not possible for the Administrator to award another entry due to discontinuance of the drawing.  In the event that information, in any published ad, press release, article, brochure, or any other communication regarding the WEC Grant Competition conflicts with any unofficial Rules, the Official Rules shall take precedence over all other communications or published materials. The Administrator reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the WEC Grant Competition to correct typographical errors or maintain legal compliance, and such changes shall become effective on the date published on the web site(s).

    11.    Alternative Dispute Resolution. By participating, Entrant agrees as follows: that good faith efforts will be used to attempt to resolve any and all claims and disputes arising under or relating to a WEC Grant Competition.  Any dispute, controversy or claim relating to a WEC Grant Competition, including but not limited to the interpretation thereof, the awarding or redemption of prizes, or the determination of the scope, enforceability or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, which cannot be resolved amicably, shall be referred to mediation for dispute resolution. In the event mediation is unsuccessful, the parties shall resort to arbitration before the American Arbitration Association, which shall be the sole and exclusive forum for resolution and settlement of any dispute, controversy or claim between the parties. Any and all legal action, suit, arbitration, or other proceeding with respect to a WEC Grant Event will be resolved individually, without respect to any form of class or representative action.

    12.    Giveaway Results. For WEC Grant results go to www.umlf.com or send a hand-printed, self-addressed, stamped envelope to Utah Micro Enterprise Loan Fund 154 E Ford Ave Ste A, Salt Lake City, UT 84115 and indicate the WEC Event. Requests for the winner list must be received on or before 180 days after drawing ending date.

    13.    Prize Representations. Grant-Prize Winners agree to accept the Grant-Prize “AS IS”, “WHERE IS.”
